Christmas holidays blog challenge

This idea to share some Holiday tales popped in my mind and I decided that it'd be fun to read about others' traditions too, so I made it a challenge-swap:

"This last 7 days, from Friday 21st December to Friday 28th December. During this period you've to take a picture of something that represent your day and post it on your blog writing about that. Phone pictures are ok, but try to make them pretty. You can take pictures and write about anything: gifts shopping, family meals, travels, .. "

- Friday 21st
I was the only loser studying at the library. It was cool, I had a whole room all for me!

As every year I accomplished my very own mission: gift wrapping!

- Saturday 22nd
We left very early in the morning to go to my grandma's (she lives more than 700km far from here, it takes us 7 hours and we left at 5am. It was very dark and I felt asleep the second I sat in the car. I managed to take the picture the first time I opened my eyes during the trip.

- Sunday 23rd
We had lunch at my aunt's. They build this huge nativity every year and it gets more detailed every time.

Weekend at the movies #8

It's Friday, wiiii!

Title: Cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Directors:
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller
Gender:
animation
Year: 2009

This is simply hilarious. It's one of my favourite animation movies of 2010. I'm obviously in love with Steve and the jello palace <3 and I just found out that it's based on an American children's book by Judy Barret.
..all my favourite movies are based on books, is that a coincidence??

Artist:
Michael Bublé
Track: Dream a little dream of me

Bublé's cover of the thirties' song originally recorded by Ozzie Nelson. This may be not the best version ever but I like Bublé's voice and I love the lyrics of this song, so here..

Weekend at the movies #7

Yay for this Friday!

Title: August rush
Director:
Kirsten Sheridan
Gender:
drama
Year: 2007

Not so new but very good.. and super touching, even if you pretend that you don't care you won't fool anyone! It has everything: a brief but intense love story of two lovers who are pulled apart and a child without parents who tries to found them with the music.. I liked it sooo much!

Awesome OST too!!!Jonathan Rhys Meyers' voice is not bad!
And this is how I found out about Kaki King (you can listen to her HERE).

Weekend at the movies #5

Gnah, bad Friday D: but! great movie!!

Title: The intouchables (original: Intouchables)
Director:
Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano
Gender: comedy-drama
Year: 2011

Loved it. This movie treats a very sensitive topic in a pretty irreverent way, it may seem disrespectful in some part but it's all explained by Philippe himself: it's about not being treating pitifully.
Beautiful location, very funny with few bitter tips and great soundtrack. A must see.

Weekend at the movies #4

And another week is over! YES!

Today's movie is a must for every blogger, especially if cooking is one of their hobbies.
Ok, it's may not be a very committed one, but it's very well made and funny, honestly. Meryl Streep is terrific, as usual and the story is really inspiring. I think every crafter of cook around here will see a bit of themselves in Julia.

Ready to sing?

Band: Sixpence none the richer
Track: There she goes
Album - Single: There she goes
Country: Texas and Tennessee, USA

The original song is by The La's, but I like this cover very much. I noticed I'm posting mostly song singed by females' voices. You may be surprised to know that I actually like male singers' voices better.. oh well, must be a coincidence..

Omeletteless omurice

I wanted to do proper omurice but I made a bit too much of chicken sauce so I decided to avoid the omelette and simply add it to the steamed rice. Still yummy :9

I used this recipe by Cooking with dog. It's rather simple, as all Asian dishes you'll spend more time slicing and preparing all the ingredients than actually cooking. Anyway I summed up all the steps here.

Ingredients:
130g chicken
Salt & pepper
Garlic
1/4 onion
4 mushrooms
White wine
200g canned tomato (I used tomato puree)
1/2 bouillon cube
1 bay leaf
30g frozen peas
Olive Oil
"280g Steamed Rice Cooked with Less Water (0.617 lb)"

Weekend at the movies #3

Finally! It's never too soon for Friday..

Studio Ghibli movie this week. I've not seen it yet but I'm a fan of the Miyazakis' movies so this is a must.
All I know is that the story take place in Yokomana in 1963 and has something to do with Japan reconstruction after the II world war. Yes, I don't like reading too much about plots before watching the movies.. SPOILER!!

Title: From up on poppy hill (original: コクリコ坂から - Kokuriko-zaka Kara)

A new song for your Wednesdays #3

Hi people, happy Wednesday!

Band: Nouvelle Vague
Track: Love will tear us apart again
Album: Nouvelle Vague
Country: France

While we were crafting some Halloween decorations last week, Max put on some music and made me listen to "Ever fallen in love". I liked it so I youtubed "Nouvelle vogue" for more songs and found this.
It's a lounge-ish cover of "Love will tear us apart" by Joy Division. Not bad, huh? :D

Weekend at the movies #2

It's Friday!

Honestly I didn't know "Total recall" was a remake of the movie with Schwarzenegger made in 1990.
The plot may not be the most original but it's a pretty good movie, I liked it. I absolutely recommend it if you're a fan of spy series and movies such as "Alias" and the Born movies' series.
I found out that it was inspired by the short story  "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dic.. it's worth a read, don't you think?

Title: Total recall
Director: Len Wiseman
Gender: Action - Sci.fi.
Year: 2012
